Gift Card Genie2017.04.11 - App Store

Gift Card Genie (GCG) simplifies looking up the remaining amount on gift cards (from supported merchants) in real time. This is accomplished in one of two ways. An automatic lookup will occur when a merchant has a web-based lookup without a ReCAPTCHA. If there is a ReCAPTCHA, you will be taken to the lookup site with the card number in memory - just paste it and answer the CAPTCHA if required. If you want to keep track of a merchant totally unsupported you can do that also, you'll just have to update the balance when you use the card.

We add merchants based on request popularity. If we see a lot of requests to add someone specifically, we will do so. Most of the time, if they're someone popular and you don’t see them here, (like Macy's) they probably don’t have a web interface.

Why did we remove some vendors? There’s three possible reasons:
They have changed their security method to a system that would require a lot of time to work around.
They just didn’t get enough traffic over the past 3 years to continue monitoring/supporting.
They asked us to stop using our app to get balance information.

Since the app supports about 100 cards with more being added daily, I put in a alphabetic index on the 'Add Card' table.
